Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement by artists and craftspeople in cities around the world to raise money for food-related charities and to feed the hungry in their communities.
The way it works:
Woodworkers, potters and ceramists in the area donate bowls they've made
Local restaurants donate huge pots of soup
We get the soup, the bowls and as many of our supporters as possible together in one place (thank you, La Jolla United Methodist Church!)
Guests and donors choose a bowl to take home with them, while enjoying some delicious soup with us, before they leave!
Historically, this is one of our most-important fund-raising events and, because it'd been a few years since covid paused them, we weren't sure what to expect on our first year back. But our supporters didn't let us down! Attendance was great. Donations were generous. And a lot of beautiful bowls went home with full and gratified people. To all our supporters, we appreciate you! Thank you for your help.
If you missed 2025, we'll see you in May 2026.
Watch our EVENTS page for details as they are posted! See you there.!
